Milnerton

Milnerton is a seaside suburb along Table Bay offering fantastic views of the Cape Town and Table Mountain.

Milnerton is situated perfectly for numerous activities. It is only 11 km north of the Cape Town city centre and hence only a short drive away from the vibrant city bowl and the mountain, yet far away enough to enjoy some tranquillity.

Woodbridge Island

The Diep River runs through Milnerton and its lagoon is a popular hotspot for many water sports such as jet skiing, surfing, body boarding, snorkelling, diving, fishing and canoeing. Its main feature is Woodbridge Island, an island featuring an 18-hole golf course, the Milnerton Lighthouse, some small cafés and the popular Bossa Restaurant right by the white sandy beach stretching for kilometres and offering picture postcard views of Table Mountain.

The lagoon is also part of the Table Bay Nature reserve, which is home to a varied bird life such as flamingos, fish eagles and other residents of the wetlands and is situated in various locations throughout Milnerton.

Activities in Milnerton

But the nature reserve is not the only place for a lovely stroll. Long white sand beaches hug the large bay and offer beautiful views of Cape Town and Table Mountain, especially at sunset. You can also enjoy a swim in the refreshing Atlantic on a hot summer’s day. Swimming is only recommended on beaches with life guards though, as the strength of the current should never be underestimated. It is, however, exactly that current and the wind that make the beaches a perfect spot for wind and kite surfers.

Milnerton is home to the largest flea market in Cape Town, which takes place every Saturday and Sunday, come rain or shine, along the old railway right by the sea. The suburb is also close to Canal Walk in Century, the largest shopping centre in Cape Town with over 400 shops, as well as Durbanville and its picturesque wine farms.
